English classes adhere to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, immerse students in a rich-literacy program, prepare them for college and work, promote higher SAT performance, develop students’ writing and speaking skills, and require critical thinking. Students are asked to be active and responsible learners. With teacher recommendation, students are enrolled in either college-preparatory or honors. Excelling juniors and seniors with prior teacher approval may enroll in Advanced Placement Language or Literature, courses which are audited by College Board, and may earn college credit depending on their AP Exam score.
